Maggie DeJong grew up in a home with parents who inspired her with stories of missionaries and martyrs who embraced the freedom of true surrender. One who stood out to her and left a purposeful weight on her heart was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He stated that "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." This quote echoed in her heart to the point of filing a lawsuit against her University after the school violated her civil and constitutional rights. And, by the grace of God, then led her to a job that allowed her to use her art therapy degree to again not be silent in the face of evil. The many surrenders have been proven purposeful in her life when submitted to the Lord.

Maggie's favorite quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer is, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” This quote became her guiding principle during an intensely challenging time in her master's program when she was ostracized by her professors and fellow students due to her Christian beliefs and conservative values. However, she remained steadfast in her convictions, leading to an event that garnered national attention. Ultimately, through continual surrender to God's direction, she experienced incredible triumph.
